This system was installed to power the whole house, at this stage we can't provide a lot of technical information, but if that comes available we will, it will give you the gist of their system and how it could be better.
Twenty PV panels where purchased, should have been more. These run our home. We actually wanted 24 but 4 went elsewhere, and I think those 4 may have made the difference. We have two computers (work from home) 2 TV's (one main, one old one) washing machine, fridge, chest freezer, toaster, water pump. Don't have a dryer but we have a few normal appliances which we don't use often. No electric heaters of course, no fans. We're just careful not to have too much on at once. Some appliances spike when you first turn them on (water pump for example) and if you had lots of things switched on in the house, that could blow the power.
The washing machine we use on sunny days only or on the generator if it's on, same with the vacuum cleaner (only small amount of carpet anyway).
We should have about four days worth of power for wet weather but have had some battery problems at times and have used the generator more than we'd like.
The panels are 120 watts.
In general - the house is wired for 240 volts. This system generates enough power for our normal useage but we have to watch what computers and TV's we have on at the same time. Unfortunately we haven't got around to upgrading the fridge to a low power one and will have to have new wiring put through to that, and the current fridge uses a lot of power. At present we are on half the batteries we planned for which doesn't give us much storage in wet & cloudy weather and we need to run the generator more often than we would prefer.
